Reset laptop? =S

Recently my laptop has gone Pete Tong...

The wireless doesnt work

The Iolo firewall won't load

And its just generally annoying me...

System Restore point is only listed as some time in Febuary 2008...

How can i basically, start from fresh on my laptop?

It has the XP Media Home number / sticker on the back

And i have a few discs knocking about somewhere that have something to do with Acer/XP

I just want it to start from new again, hopefully the problems will go away

If you make a restore disk or if you have a restore disk already that would help. I once had a an acer laptop and the restore disk it had installed the os and the drivers.

If you want to restore to factory default like (with all that junk prebuilt.....) then use the restore disc.

If you want to a fresh clean install, you need to find a xp/media center disc and use the serial on the back of your laptop.

Ok heres the thing...

I have the XP Disc for my main computer [self built] - have the packaging with its number

I only have a serial on the base of my laptop which is for XP Media Home

Would the XP Disc + XP Media Home work together if i did a reinstall?

The serial would have to match the version of windows you install...

so if you have a media center oem serial you would have to install windows xp mediacenter edition oem

EDIT.. Is your serial for XP home Edition or XP Mediacenter Edition ?

Shut down, reboot, press key ** (will tell you on screen) to either access the boot options or bios. If you get to access boot options just boot form CD, if you have to go into the bios change the boot order to CD first, HDD 2nd. Follow the onscreen dirctions to isntall new copy of XP.
