what will the coolest 775 chip made?

post #1 of 8
Thread Starter
right now i have a 437w tec setup ready to run.

thing is there is just no point at all on this q6600 it just puts out too much heat.

at the moment i run 3.6ghtz on the quad core.

what i am asking is "what is the coolest running chip out or upcoming that will surpass the performance of my 3.6 quad??"

must be socket 775

Performance wise, you are not going to gain much with ANTHING on the market.
Most of the quads will top out around 4.0ghz or so. But temp wise, 45nm processor will run coolers.

However, I wouldn't recommend anything on the market worth upgrade over a 3.6ghz q6600.

Exactly what I was thinking. With a TEC you may be able to hit 4.0 or 4.1 with the right RAM and timings. Unless of course you have a bad overclocking chip. They are not all the same you know.

I say you should push that baby harder.

For the amount of $ that would have to be spent, improve your case cooling, get a better cpu cooler, or maybe look at the heat your X1900XTX is throwing out.

currently at 1.45 volts 400x9

using 4 x 1Gb Team DDR2 PC2-6400 Xtreem Series 3-3-3-8

the chip is stable but if i go any higher at all i seemed to get killed by vdrop.

board is an abit ab9 quad gt p965.

it is a shame to have all this peltier stuff doing nothing but i fear it wont be up to the task and will only raise the electricity bil!!
