Card for 1440x900 - Page 2

If you don't mind waiting a bit, once the GTS260/280s are released, I'm sure you could SLI 8800GSes (9600GSOs) for no more than $180

8800GTS if you can stretch that far, to be honest it's worth it. You don't need anything more powerful than that @ your resolution.

8800GT just fits your budget (after MIR) and is the best card in terms of performance in that price range

Alright, I'm looking at the 9600gt, 8800gt, and possibly the 3870. If I get 2 9600gt cards and put them in SLI, will that perform better than 2 8800gt cards? I heard that 9600gt cards scale better than the 8 series. If it makes any difference I'll also be playing the Unreal 3 engine. Thanks for the input everyone!

9600GTs in SLI are about 15% slower than 8800GTs in SLI from what I've seen and heard. The 9600GT alone is quite a beast at that resolution and can pretty much max out any game with AA to spare.

In terms of the Unreal 3 engine, I was playing GoW at max settings at 1680x1050 with max AA and DX10 and I was getting 40-45 fps on average

9600GT is pretty good for the price but the 8800GT is well worth it as well. By the way, hows the monitor?

THe monitor is fantastic! 0 dead pixels and picture is beautiful. Definatly worth the $127. Anyways... I think I'll just wait until June for price drops.
