e8400 overclocked to 3.6ghz, terrible FPS now!! help!

Thread Starter
Hey, this is my first overclock attempt, so im sort of new at this stuff...
I was running cod4 and crysis just fine (70+fps) on max graphics, and now, after overclocking my cpu to 3.6GHz, im getting really bad fps on those gaimes.
Could it be that my video card is not getting enough voltage?
Heres my system specs:

P5K-E mobo
E8400 @ 3.6GHz....45 degrees C full load
Corsair 2gb sticks (x2)
OCZ StealthXstream 600W PSU
XFX GeForce 8800GT

To overclock, all i did was put N.O.S mode to manual, and increase the CPU bus speed to 400 (slowly from 333) and leave all other settings at Auto... Im getting a 1:1 ratio FSBRAM, so it seems all good there...

Whats the problem!

Thanks for any replies!

**This issue was resolved by upping the northbridge voltage***

Check your PCI-E linkwidth under the mainboard tab of CPU-Z.

Bump up your northbridge voltage, slowly until your linkwidth returns to x16.

Okay, is there anyway to tell what the northbridge voltage is at now? Under bios it says "Auto" which is what i left it as, and putting a value in would just change it.

Great!
My bios does not give me the option to input voltages for NB, however, I set it to 1.40V and now when i run CPU-Z it shows im back up to 16x link width!
(My options were 1.25, 1.40, 1.55, 1.70V)

Is there anything else i should manually set or should the rest be okay at Auto?

Thanks again for your help

Run a stress test, such as Prime95, Orthos, or OCCT.
See if your settings are stable.

Thanks a lot! You've been a great help...I was just playing COD4 again at full fps...running Orthos now, i will leave it on for a while yet but so far (5 minutes in) CPU is around 48...Not too bad with air cooling... Maybe i should try for 3.8GHz
