Age of Conan - Worth Getting? - Page 2

Not trying to hijack a thread but I have some more questions...

1. How is the leveling system? Does it take about the same time as it does in WoW to get to 70? Or is it a little faster?

2. Can this game be run in Windowed Mode?

3. Is this a good game for a casual MMO player? I dont have time to play every night but about 10 hours a month would be good.

4. Is it like WoW where there are big cities where everyone hangs out in and chats and, well does MMO stuff.

5. What level do mounts come into play?

6. Should I buy it or not?!

It's important to understand the night/day happenings.

During your stay on the noob island (at least lvl 1-19) you have the choice of day or night time to play. Daytime = multiplayer, night time = single player. Now, Once you get off that island, you go into a dynamic day/night cycle that shifts over time automatically. I know the main quest continues into the game past level 20, but I am unsure if there is a night time only single player that comes with it. Tbh, I doubt it.

And I would wait on the game. Unless you're looking to get something to do now, there are a lot of things they need to iron over before it really becomes good. A main issue which bugs me is the lack of information they give you in game about talents, skills, attributes, and spells. The most unfortunate part of which is due to that lack of information exactly matches the web. Nobody knows what a lot of spells/talents do, because they just don't tell you.

"Makes your fireball spell hit harder."

It may not be exactly word for word, but it's not far off. They give you no numerical data or examples. Just... A very layman's pitch.

Awesome! +Rep.

The leveling thing is what im most worried about. Honestly it took me 2 years off and on to get to 70 in WoW. lol. I want to play Conan but just dont want to grind for 15 hours to up a level.

just to.... answer them all in nice form (no offence to last poster, its a pet peeve)

1. Its faster... quite a bit faster. (Unless your a WoW BOT -_-)

2. Yes, but currently your FPS will drop about 10-30 frames

3. I'm lvl 15 and I have had it for 4 days, I work & go to school every day. Not to mention my GF. (about 4-5 hours in now)

4. Yes, but stick to "PvP-RP" servers, as people just talk about computers in PvP & PvE servers

5. As stated above, lvl 40.

6. duh... =)

I'm on the fence with this one..

Do I buy AoC.. and possible waste my money on a game I won't pick back up (even if it is a great game, I have such a little amount of time).. or do I save it for a game I'm more inclined to enjoy.. like Mass Effect (just kidding, I already ordered my Mass Effect )

Looks like a good game, but I think they need to learn from Blizzard and do a 14 day trial or something. Most of the big MMO's do this. That's what EVE and WoW both did, that got me to pay both of them for a long time.

crap. as an example: Level 30 quest reward was better than item drop off a level 40 raid boss. (in the instance sanctum of burning souls)

I just want to say this about the combat.

Its nothing special at all. Dont be fooled by everyone saying how awesome it is. Its just as boring as combat in WoW

Actually, the combat system in AoC being less mindless might not be such a good thing for me. I love immersive games and all, but playing an MMO, sometimes you just need to grind out for a while, and that's when having mindless combat is nice..

Just right click and zone out.

they will, but WoW and EVE both did this after their terrible releases :S Conan actually is having a decent release... so wait it out?

I could give you a friend key if you want...?
