Age of Conan - Worth Getting? - Page 7

To answer the original question... yes I do believe it is worth getting.

Started out with a Demonologist and got him to lvl 37 then I rerolled a Bear Shaman and love every minute of it. Casters are pretty boring compared to a class with melee, because of the combo system. Bear Shaman is the best of both worlds (melee / healer), and once you get passed the first 20 or 25 levels they become really powerful. I'm on a pvp server so getting ganked is something to be expected.

The game was a pretty flawless release imo... Yes people complain about bugs and balance issues (farking rangers), but I can imagine the game only getting better from the already good game that it is now.

Hey guys, quick question regarding DX10 and AoC....does anyone have any side by side comparison screenshots showing the difference between DX9 and DX10? I'm thinking about jumping to Vista and 4gb of ram, but will only do it if there is a large enough difference specifically in AoC to merit the time reformatting all my drives and also the $300 or $400 it'd require. Anyone have any screenshots or input regarding the difference? Thanks in advance, any input is appreciated.

I'm trying to, but I made the mistake of installing it before I put my new ram sticks in, so it's installing with 1 gb I think it's been 20 minutes so far.

DX10 is not even supported by AoC yet...so there are no side by side comparison shots. I believe they are adding DX10 support in August or sometime near there...but don't quote me on that.

The day/night shift is only for the first 20 levels, and you DO NOT have to do the night campaign, but it adds up to the story! Its nice to play it once to see who you are etc (BTW each archtype plays a different role in the SP story so play them once with each to get a spherical view!)

After that there IS night/day rotation based on server time... At least it gets darker anyway not NIGHT NIGHT. It is a fun game though.

The combat system is unique for MELEE only. Casters are the same as usually. But its rather nice to be the one performing the combo instead of spamming 1 button over and over again... You have to spam 5 now lol

The combat system is not revolutionary but it is definitely fun, i enjoy the combos it gives me something more and keeps me immersed. i find my self zoning out with wow and not really having fun. I am only lvl 25 but the community is lacking but i would bet it will pick up as more and more people get familiar with the game.

It is def worth trying and it is really fun and the fact that it has blood and stuff makes it a lot more fun for me.

The graphics are nice....but the game launched with a ton of stuff missing and a ton of bugs that should have been situated before a launch. I'm not saying I hate the game...I enjoy it and have played to 35 already. But...I better see some major issues fixed in the remainder of my free month or I'm leaving till it gets better.
