Hah yeah this is honestly my first metalworking experience. Atleast I didn't wind up bleeding all over the house like this guy! Love the sig, the shinies is from the 2000 grit and a serious determination, OCD paid off it seems. The plating on the zalman took F O R E V E R to disappear, and wound up applying more pressure than what I felt was comfortable considering the weight of the entire assembly.

1.5, but don't take that for face value, I had everything up to 3.6 and was idling at like 30 load around the 50C's I think, but messed up somethin in bios and wound up replacing the MOBO battery...so I just kinda half-assed this overclock until my aftermarket NB and SB cooling arrives.

Again, thank you for the kind words! Always great to hear encouragement from the modding community, gotta love the internet!

UPDATE

My thermaltake extreme spirit II's arrived today, now I just need to wait for my fan controller (thanks Kopi!) and mosfet sinks.

Wow. Very nice idle temp on that E6600. What's the vcore on that? Any idea what your ambient temp is as well?

24C 24C right now =) Its sex man! Less TIM really is more!

No idea on the ambient, I wouldn't put it under 70F though, considering im near a window in Alabama, and the AC is set on 71 I think.

Whoops, 1.5vcore. I could probably get stable with less, as im hardly at a ~35% overclock.

Holy crap! That's amazing! When I try to get my E6600 up to 3.6GHz, I tried going up to 1.46v (in CPU-Z) and my load temps while running Orthos were over 60 C! And my E6600 is lapped! Maybe I should make sure it's completely flat as well as my heatsink.

I think the lapping combined with a very small amount of TIM helped tremendously.

Also it seems I have decent airflow in my case, two tricool intake fans on the window and the stock TT intake and exhaust fans in my Soprano. I am considering adding another exhaust fan at the top though, or maybe an intake at the top and swapping the lower-most window fan to exhaust... not sure.

I am very wary of that number 60, above all else my goal is to Oc while keeping the processor under that temp.

I'm really starting to doubt the temps you're claiming. My E6600 is at 60 C or above while running Orthos with my vcore at about 1.4v according to CPU-Z. How in the world can you get 20 C less with .05 more volts than I'm running at?

Allow me to run orthos for a few so I can give you screenies that don't say ive been running it for 1 min XD

I lied, 1.38 vcore seems to be the general consensus between Cpu-z, coretemp, BIOS, and AI Booster.
