What you have said here makes it all worth while.(hopefully not 2010 but whatever, I can't afford a ps3 and I miss my gran turismo)

Screen protectors. As hard as you try, the screen is very easy to scratch.
2Gb Mem stick or higher(get a "gaming" edition for faster transfers).
Also, get the latest update on the firmware to be able to put video on the unit.
Congratz on the original, I don't like the slim and my original has kept up ever since I got it(same month it was released).

Well I will check it out when I get it, but I still have my old gameboy from when I was a kid(the old monchromatic black and yellow?) and it still doesn't have any scratches, its got to be over 15 years old.

Where would I find gaming edition memory sticks?(without breaking the bank)

6. God of War: The Chains of Olympus
7. Street Fighter Alpha 3
8. Metal Gear: Portable ops
9. Socom: Fireteam Bravo 2
10. Wipeout: Pulse
11.Twisted Metal
12. Lumines

I play my psp at work pretty much for 8 hours a day and these are the must have games for the system. At Least in my opinion. Enjoy your psp, As it is more than an MP3 and Movie player.

Also, you can run all the PS1 games w/ customer firmware. There are a ton of good RPGs on ps1, along with a a lot of other good games.

Seems you like Racing and RPG's mostly. Thus most of the games I would recommend will not be something you dig. But, like other said, get a darn screen protector! Firmware version for Homebrew and what not are entirely up to you, but probably too much to mess with.

Games that I would say are highly rated for the PSP:

1. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
2. Lumines
3. Lumines 2
4. Hot Shots Golf series
5. Pro Evo Soccer series
6. Street Fighter Alpha 3
7. Echochrome
8. SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 2
9. GTA series
10. God of War: Chains of Olympus
11. Patapon
12. Burnout
13. Wipeout series
14. Ridge Racer

Basically, the games you expect for a handheld.... fun, puzzle, fighter, racer, sports, rpg adaptations

Surprising that no one, that I can see anyway, recommended Disgaea. It is one of my favorite PS2 games, certainly in the top 5, and my favorite Strategy RPG I've ever played, and I've played a fair amount. It really is an amazing game, and it's nearly a perfect rendition of the PS2 version.
