New soundcard help

Thread Starter
once again I need the expertise of this great community ,this time I'm trying to figure out what sound card will be best for my needs.
I have a 'good' set of speakers (Sony 2.1) and I want an upgrade from onboard sound however It will be a cold day in hell before I spend 300$ on headphones or speakers for that matter,SO I need a good card but not the best... something that will stay with me in my next built though not very expensive 100$ max but i'd like around 75$

thanks in advance for your replies

The x-fi extreme music is supposed to be pretty good, I'm sure that's under $100 in america
