[Xbit] ATI and Nvidia Defend Own Approaches to High-End Graphics Solutions - Page 4

i honestly can't wait till we start getting into dual core GPUs, (2 cores on 1 die), i wonder how they will pull it off though...

the only reason I think I'm going Nvidia is because of the release date... even if the 4870x2 was a tad slower than the GT280 I'd still get it. Since the release of this card was pushed back I don't think I'm going to wait. I have a card that can hold me over (9800gx2 with an EK waterblock) but I hate waiting. So in June if anybody wants a watercooled 9800gx2 look me up! I'll sell it cheap! (that is if the GT280 beats it )

There won't be much of a point, it would just be like SLI or Crossfire on one card.

CPU != GPU

both approaches work well for the respected companies, though.
NVidia doesn't like multi-GPUs for one big reason, SLI is terrible at scaling compared to CrossFireX. SLI scaled AT MOST 60% with the G80, it went up to 65-70ish with the G92, and sored to it's all time high of 75% with the G94(That's as high as it will go I believe) Compare that to the HD3870's 85-95% scaling (SuperCom)
