i took it off cleaned the heatsink, and put new ocz thermal compound on it, yesterday was a hot day, today is cool so my temp now is 70

Awesome.

Hopefully you'll clean it regularly so it won't get that hot again

90+ degrees won't kill your GPU but it'll reduce the lifespan of your card by a good deal if you keep running it that hot

110 is where you should REALLY start to worry, for that's when its going to like...do some bad damage to the card. Also keep in mind if your 8800GT is 100C+ it will lower the lifespan dramatically.

What you should do is get some can air and clean out your gpu. I did that and lowered about 10C(my gpu was VERY dusty)

No, don't get a DuOrb for a GTX.

DuOrbs work awesome up until a certain point, once they pass their maximum heat they perform worse than stock cooling..this is shown in many reviews. They're great for G92 cores like the 8800gt and GTS512, but after a voltmod, or on a 100c chip like yours, the DuOrb won't hold up.

Think about an Accelero S1 or a VF-1000
