Slight chance you've hit your wall.... are you using Rivatuner to overclock and ATItools to artifact scan? Using Rivatuner will allow you to unlink your shader and core possibly helping you hit a higher core clock...

Popping the HSF off and replacing the stock "goo" with AS5 will also probably shave away a few Cs

Graphics cards don't really overclock very far.

If you are feeling lucky, flash the bios to XFX pre-overclocked card. Its what I did to my EVGA, flashed it to KO.

8800GTX does not OC well

I suggest either dealing with moderate OC or upgrade when 9900 comes out

You'd be surprised how far the 8800GS goes. I got a 22% gain on my friends rig with only minimal temp increases (had to up fan from 30% to 60% to maintain 62c load temps).

670 core, memory up to 925 or 950.

925? I would like and is it even decently stable?

I see many 600 to 750-800 overclocks on the newer cores, but the G80 isn't one to overclock well

my card is stock 1000 on the memory, but its the factory OC edition (XXX for XFX).

the most i've ever gotten my core to is 648mhz. the GTX actually works in straps and they are really weird. here, check out this chart below.

basically, it shows what clock setting you have to set in order to get the desired speed. the left column is what you set in your RivaTuner/ Ntune/ whatever you use to set clocks. the middle is the actual produced core speed from that setting, the right is the respective shader clock setting, unless you use RivaTuner and adjust all clocks seperately.

the GTX core works in speeds of 575, 612, 621, 648, 675, 68.. although from my tests, 675mhz is only attainable with a voltage mod, 684 would be the same.

the max i have been able to stabalise on my GTX is 648mhz core, 1585mhz shaders, 1065mhz ram. i have pushed the ram higher for benching, but it didnt last long in games and artefacted pretty badly.
