HR-05 crush pad?

Is this pad really necessary? I seem to have misplaced mine but don't wanna install my HR-05 and damage my NB if it's really necessary.
I never put mine on. I actually must not have seen it in the package. haha

Yeah I don't remember getting one either. Maybe I just thought it was packing. Works fine without it.

Does your HR-05 fit snuggly or can you easily move it back and forth after mounting?

I can move it a little bit. It's a good thing I can though since it touches my CPU cooler if it's directly on the center of my northbridge.

I never remember using such an item in my installation.

Don't worry about it.

Well in case you don't remember it was a very thin pad that stuck to the outer rim of the HR-05 I guess so that you couldn't push the HR-05 down too hard on the NB.

I tried without pad and then with pad. With the pad it holds more steadily in place. I'm sure that'll help temperatures with NB running at 1.55v. But I don't have a temperature monitor to check if the pad helped.

I have the pad on mine, have not tried without it. It should be fine without though, I think it is just to make it fit better since the NB is a small chip so it doesnt wobble around. But if you can install it well it should not move around that much.
