$5000 Budget - Page 3

I think my suggestions are perfect for a 'showcase' rig, since it includes some cutting edge hardware you usually don't see in a rig (solid state, Blu Ray burner). These are things that will become more commonplace, but are currently too expensive for most. But excellent for a rig like this.

I was thinking of solid state, but is it really worth it performance wise?? I know they have virtually 0 access time, but their transfer speeds arent all that better than a raptor are they?

True, but you said 'showcase'. And heck, I need to spend that money on *something*...

The access time will make a difference. Yeah, in terms of bandwidth, it's about the same as Raptors, but for the large files (where bandwidth becomes more important), we have the second RAID array.

Have heard that Write Times are Bad on solid state drives but Read/access times are Super Super Fast with 0 latency.
At the moment though they are just far too pricey. Go with a couple of raptor X's or something instead.
