I will probably air cool, as I like a lot of metal, but chances are I'd move onto water cooling...probably CPU only with a 360mm rad and res mounted to the top of the case to show off to customers Here in Ireland, its kind of backwards with technology, and if you have an 8800GT, your considered to have a super fast GPU so watercooling should blow them away

A few things,

1. Since you will be overclocking there is absolutely no need to shell out $500 more for a QX9770 as it is the same chip as the QX9650 with just a li'l bit more FSB.

2. 9800GTX SLI is cheaper and provides performance on par with 9800GX2 Quad-SLI . Source: [H]ardOCP Review . It shouldnt matter anyways what you get because you absolutely must step-up to GTX280 when they come out on June 18th.

3. I went with 8GB of DDR3-1600 RAM. For around $1200-$500 you can go with DDR3-2000 RAM but only 4x1GB is available on newegg. Depends what is more important to you.

4. That Corsair will power anything you throw at it. Also, its modular so your case will look more neat and attractive.

5. Kandalf looks more attractive to me than Armor+, if you think Armor+ looks better then you can save $35 by getting it instead, and use that money to buy fans, LEDs etc.

6. SSD, IMO isnt worth it right now. It's too early.

7. Under budget by $309, $9 should get you atleast 500 LEDs . $300 will get you a good WC setup, since u wont be WCing the GPUs. If you finally decide to WC then ditch the 9700NT and use that money to get case fans, CCFL etc.

8. Hook all of this up to a 30" LCD if you can for some 2560x1600 madness. Preferably the Gateway XHD3000 Extreme or Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP

9. I had sooooo much fun putting this all together, thanks.

i think you should go directly to water cooling much cooler/way better performance. Mine and Chozart's SSD builds both include funding for watercooling, if your going to spend over 3k on a computer it only makes sense to watercool ^_^. I cant beleive u said u wanted phase then changed your mind to air cooling

i dont like where all the resources for his build went in this if your going to spend that much money you should get more things that are THE BEST OF THE BEST and then you should throw in some crazy gimmicks, my build included SLI'd GTX280's and Chozies build had SSD +we both had watercooling if the point of this is to show people your not messing around you really should take every step to make your computer make people piss themselves not just run good benchmarks.

i see what your saying but grants dont say you have 1 day to spend this he will probably have a month or notably more as long as he reports all his spending at the end buying 3 9800's then steping up in 18 days is just plain stupid.

I have a while to spend the money, but I'll have to show where all of it is spent. I will not be able to buy more than 1 PC, as they won't see it as feasible, as I'm the only employee, as far as they know, this will be a work PC, and I'm gonna play on the part that "How can someone trust me to build a high performance PC, when the business is using a dell?"...

I'm debating cooling...Air would be more practical, but I guess when I'm spending this much on a PC, water cooling or phase is the best bet...as I won't be doing crazy high OCing, I'll prob go water to get around 4Ghz...
