Hey guys I'm new to overclocking. I just barely bought and built my pc. I was wondering if anyone out there can help me overclock my pc. I don't want to OC it too much where it would be unstable. I just want like maybe a 3.2 or so. This is my motherboard and cpu I have.

ASUS P5N-E SLI 775 nVidia 650i

sorry for posting all this but I'm completely new to this and just wanted to post my information so there wont be any errors. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

I found this guide to be useful. When they are talking about voltages, I think they mean the voltages you set in the BIOS, not the ones reported in cpuz in Windows.

The most you can expect to get out of a p5n-e sli with a quad q6600 is 3.0ghz.

It is not easy to get even that much with that board.

It will overclock dual core ok, but it is horrible with quad.

There are a few that have gotten a q6600 at 3.0ghz with your board, but it is more than unlike that it will happen if you don't have much experience with the board.

I've did the ASUS AI tuning at 20% but sometimes it give me the blue screen of death when I reboot. But after read your post I'm very dissappointed that this board can't reach 3.0. I heard this board was good thats why I bought it. Now I'm soo upset at myself.

Maybe it doesn't have to be anything higher than 3.0. I'll settle for 3.0 or 2.9 or something. I just want to say I overclock it at its best

If you absolutely need SLI, a 750i, 780i, or even 790i will do.
If you can find a used 680i A1, or A2, then you are good to go.

If you don't need sli, a p35 board is great for overclocking a quad.
DFI DK, Abit ip35-pro, Gigabyte P35-ds3l....tons of options.

But if you absolutely have to keep this board, then here is a guide for your board.

See what other people have gotten on the board, how they did it, tons of information.

How can you tell that a board can or cannot handle a quad core? Is it just through experience or does it say in board specs?

What's the main difference between the different levels of SLI, and what is A1 and A2?
