Making New Build, Suggestions Needed.

Thread Starter
Well firstly I am new to overclock.net so Hi .

Secondly my current computer is 3 years old and a bit out of date and ive had two harddrives fail recently and I dont really know why. I need to build a new computer and ive basically come down to everything I want except for the heatsink mainly but if you see something in my build that you dont think works well let me know.

Hardware:

CPU - E8400
MOBO - Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L
GPU - 8800GT 512MB
PSU - Corsair HX520W
RAM - OCZ 2x2GB 6400 DDR2-800
HDD - Seagate 2X 250GB SATA2 (Already have one in this comp, will install new windows on new one and transfer stuff over then reformat this one)
DRIVES - Samsung SH-S203B (Might get two, not sure.)
CASE - CM 690

Cooling:
7X Yate Loon LED Fans. ( I am going to be using the two fan ports on the main panel so this is where my Heatsink issues are coming in as I dont think a TRUE or Tuniq will fit)

1 Rear Fan, 2 Main Panel, 2 Top, 1 Front, 1 Bottom (Might add 80MM to behind the mobo just to clear out hotair there and get the Blue LED on both sides. I might also add a 120MM in the drivebays if I dont get two burners)

Modding:
Paint Chassis Black and Possibly add a 120MM to drive bay
Sunbeam Rheobus 5.25in 6 Fan Controller

When it comes to overclocking I will probably overclock the CPU only and maybe the RAM if my friend helps. But OCing that CPU i want to OC to 3.4-3.8 about. I know its more than possible with this MOBO and CPU as ive seen many people get 4.0-4.4.

Any Suggestions is greatly appreciated, Thank you.

I would buy a different motherboard if your ever going to go raid, Ive built 6 systems with the ds3l in the last 3 months and its a solid board and overclocks good. But no raid. ALLEN

I dont care for RAID really. I dont use alot of harddrives and I back everything up all my important stuff on my spares anyways so other than the bit of speed increase Its nothing I really care for.

As far as dvd burners, I've preferred the Samsungs. Quieter and smoother operating. I also heard some bad experiences about the OCZ psus in the past, try that $85 after MIR 610 PC Power & Cooling on newegg, link in the online deals section.

Well im canadian so newegg isnt an option since I dont wanna deal with cross border shipping. I use www.ncix.com basically the canadian version of newegg.

And i will check out the samsung SATA's on the site and compare. Ive also heard things about the pioneers being a bit loud and not smooth so thanks for that.

So what have you heard about the OCZ PSU's? And if you have heard ALOT of bad things what about the corsair 620? Im willing to pay $30 more if its a way better PSU. The OCZ has MIR right now thats why.

EDIT: Okay well I changed the Pioneer to Samsung due to the suggestion and its cheaper on the site and still a SATA.

Get a DS3R, it has RAID capacity I believe.

And I would buy a Corsair 750TX from buy.com, its very, very cheap over there ($110 I think).

Once again, I do not need RAID capability as I will never use it.

Secondly I do not need a 750W PSU. Id be fine with 500-550 but I want a bit more just cause you never know.

SLi only requires 600-700 so why would I need 750 if im not even running SLi?

Try this for psu:
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...acture=CORSAIR

The OCZ psus were burning out a lot and bad at getting MIRs:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341002
"Other Thoughts: I have read a lot of angry posts from people who have been fraudulantly denied their rebate from OCZ tech. Now it's happened to me as well. Like I said, I believe they do it just to save the money, period. Just beware and don't count on getting your hard earned money back from them. It's a shame that with such great products this company resorts to these kinds of tactics. "
I heard about the OCZs about 4 months ago on evga's site. Might be getting better though but sounds like the MIR junk is still occurring.

Can no one help me decide on a good heatsink that will fit the CM690 with 2 top fans and 2 main panel fans?

Changed PSU to the corsair HX520W, it has modular and 10x 4-Pin for all my fans. I also notice alot of people with similar hardware only using 520. If someone thinks i truly need the HX620, let me know.

I REALLY NEED A CPU HEATSINK SUGGESTION WITH 2 FANS ON MAIN PANEL RUNNING AND 2 FANS ON TOP RUNNING, WHATS A GOOD HEATSINK THAT WILL FIT? Zalman9500? Scythe Ninja? WHAT!!!
