Hows the gameplay? Saw this at fry's today and almost bought it. Figured I would wait until the price drops though. Hate spending $50 on a game....

I love it. I think it's better than, say, Oblivion. Main storyline is a bit short but the side missions are more fleshed out than most.

Are the side quests as annoying monotonous as Oblivions side quests?

Some are. Others are fun. But they all require the mako is some way or another, and that's bad. Very, very bad. That and there must only be three architects throughout the entire galaxy in the Mass Effect future, cause there's only three different building/ship designs, with maybe a box or two in a different place to differentiate them.

The map system, however, is in serious need of a "go here for this mission," marker, or at least a way to access the journal without having to completely cancel out of the map - which takes up to 4 transitions. And then you have to remember "The Whatever system in the Somewhere cluster" and go back into the map. And god forbid you do half a mission of one planet, then return a day later and forget which planet you were on and which to you need to finish (or when you have four places to go and have done two).

I'm looking at getting a Used Mass Effect disk. Any "Catches"?

DRM? Similar to Bioshock? Person said it would not play on his computer. (poor video card, so he's selling it cheap.)
