New Core2Quad 64-bit support question

Thread Starter
I just purchased a Core2Quad LGA775 Q6600 Kentsfield from Newegg and I notice alot of people in the reviews saying they use it with Vista64 and XP64 but I havnt noticed anyone saying they've used it with regular xp pro.

I know the cpu has 64-bit support but I'm dropping it in an audio editing computer and 1) I can't afford to swap OS's at the moment and 2) I need to stick with XP Pro (32-bit) for compatibility reasons.

Even though this thing has 64-bit support, it should still work with regular xp pro right?

Definitely. Honestly, most people use 64-bit capable processors with 32-bit OS's.

Only reason a lot of us run x64 is because of 4GB+ memory support. 32 will detect and use somewhere around 3.25GB with 4GB of memory installed, with a 64-bit OS, you can max out the motherboard with memory and it will use every bit of it (with memory remapping of course!).

Yeah, the main reason for 64bit is because of the 4GB+ memory support.
