OCZ Vendetta VS. Stock Intel

Thread Starter
Hi guys, first post, but hoping you will go easy on me ; )

A week ago I purchased my new set-up for a self-assembly job, and when it all arrived I took the boxes apart to see if everything was it should be.

And it all was, except, the Intel cooler that followed my E6550 feels a lot higher quality than the Vendetta. Weighs a ton more too : D

My question is, which one is more effective? On first impressions I would go for the stock, but I would like to hear from someone who might have ome more experience than me

I haven't put it together yet, will go about that today or tomorrow, and I can return it till the 3rd of June.

Well, I was working on a budget of 4500 DKK (~1000 USD). Not much, but there's room for expansion in the future with an SLI slot and room for another 4 gigs of ram on my new P5N-D from Asus. I ended blowing my budget by 600,- though, as the case I bought did not include a PSU even though the description in the store said it would.

Thanks for the quick response by the way!

Well the Vendetta will blow the stock cooler outta the water but as for aftermarket heatsinks there are many better choices than the Vendetta 1.

the vendetta 2 is amazing

vendetta 1 is not as good, but it still works way better than stock.

Thanks for that link. According to that, there doesn't seem to be much of a performance difference, maximum 3 degrees it seems, and at times, the V1 outperforms the V2. Mind you, I am not going to be overclocking this rig alot, though I want to see if I can push it to 3.2 GHz, just for kicks.

Think it will be doable with the equipment listed in my sig system?

All I can say is I have a V2 on the way.
V1- 92mm fan, louder
V2- 120mm fan, more cm (moves more air)

I have the V1 and it dropped my OCd load temps from 62C to 47C with good case airflow. There really is no comparison. As for the 92mm fan being louder, this is true. So just do what I did and strap on a 120mm fan (I used the Scythe Ultra Kaze 2000) for better airflow and less noise:

Let me know if you want specifics on how to do (aka twistie ties are your friend!).
