been looking through wiki and i have 2 respectfully disagree with u. here r some quotes...

Quote:
Pure water containing no ions is an excellent insulator, however, not even "deionized" water, is completely free of ions. Water undergoes auto-ionisation at any temperature above absolute zero. Further, because water is such a good solvent, it almost always has some solute dissolved in it, most frequently a salt. If water has even a tiny amount of such an impurity, then it can conduct electricity readily, as impurities such as salt separate into free ions in aqueous solution by which an electric current can flow.
Quote:
Water, however pure, is not a simple collection of H2O molecules. Even in "pure" water, sensitive equipment can detect a very slight electrical conductivity of 0.055 µS·cm-1. According to the theories of Svante Arrhenius, this must be due to the presence of ions.
that is with "pure" water, next 2 impossible 2 achieve. and it still has (however small the amount) ions in it.

Quote:
It should be noted that deionized water (also called DI water) is water that has had most impurity ions common in tap water or natural water sources (such as Na+ and Cl−) removed by means of distillation or some other water purification method. Removal of all ions from water is next to impossible, since water self-ionizes quickly to reach equilibrium.
the water doesn't need 2 b n ur loop 2 start getting back ions. once the ions r removed (and when the de-ionize water, they mostly take the ions from the impurities) it immediately starts 2 get them back 2 achieve equilibrium.

but i have a question, if it were possible 2 keep all ions out of ur water loop, that would mean there would b no electrical conductivity, correct? and wouldn't this halt any and all galvanic corrosion?
