[Yahoo!] GTA IV Star only made $100k and wants more. - Page 3

No sympathy here. He was dumb enough not to demand royalties.
He should get more, but he (or more likely his agent, who is now probably pulling the strings on this development anyway) should have seen "GTA4" and known $100k flat was cheap.

But what bugs me is, 15 months of voice acting? That's definitely not a 9-5 deal. Probably not even a 5-day week. Best guess would be he went in once or twice a month, recorded a lot, and came back next month to do it over again. That $100k isn't looking so bad, on reflection.

Not saying it's not a hard job, just I doubt it was 15 months of straight work. Still, a small bonus would be proper (considering the success of the thing), for everyone involved.

yeah and look at those Pixar movies. i bet the 3d animators get paid WAY less than people like, Chris Rock doing a zebra or whatever.

fair enough the moneys more in the name than the voice in that case, but still.

voice acting is still acting. i think he did Niko so well, it really was a huge part of what made the game so enjoyable. he should be getting constant royalties/commissions for every sale.

this guy should be paid $300 million. rockstar can deal with the other £100 million for sure

who else could pull off the quotes like "ai am goeeng to cut off yar facking HEAD!!" and "So these are thee amerecan titties my couzin told mee about"

ahh the voices of niko and little jacob really made this game. they are worth alot more than £50K.

anyone could have said that, but not everyone could have made a plot like that and made such a beautiful game, the big money should go to the developers and writers

this voice actor guy is trying to make money from someone elses creative ideas and other peoples work, this game would be nothing without the plot, graphics, and gameplay

This guy shouldn't be paid a penny more. He agreed to a specified wage, without asking for more or a percentage of sales, so the company has no obligation to pay him more!

Man, it amazes me how whenever a company actually *gasp* makes money, people think they don't deserve it, or that someone else deserves it more. Rockstar is making a bunch of money for its owners, and no one deserves it more than the owners themselves. They risked their own cash to invest in the company, and it's paying off.

If that guy wanted to be paid more, he should've invested that $100k he made over the past 15 months in Rockstar stock.

rofl this guy is a tard. You're the main voice actor for the GTA series game and you don't think the game is going to be huge. All of the GTA games are huge. People wait in lines starting at 10pm to midnight to get a copy of the game and you don't think it's going to be huge.

He needs to blame himself at not being smart enough to figure this out and negotiate his contract with Rockstar accordingly. Voice actors are not supposed to get residuals or any part of the profit itself. They are paid and then they leave. That's how it's supposed to work with voice actors.

I would have done it for 50k, think about it he worked for 15 months, and in that time probably had everything paid for him, I.e. food, accommodations, travel.... etc

I'd blame his manager for not foreseeing GTA 4 making big money

read the article! This guy isn't claiming he did anything creative or special in the case of the game. It's a fairness cry. He did voice acting, which many people underrate the difficulty of, and he did it well. The game has made HUGE profits with his voice and in any other work environment that uses voice acting, excluding internet and gaming, he would get a piece of the pie. It's all in the union which doesn't have good guides for game actors... It was a 100,000 dollars for 15 months of work. That's pretty good, until you realize that you helped in the making of 600,000,000 dollars worth. Even if he were to get only 1% of the profits, because that's probably all any of you think he deserves, that is still 6,000,000 dollars! 6 MILLION!

Just another reason why I dislike unions. There is no place for unions now-a-days.

I'm more interested in the voice actor for Roman. He's my favorite out of the characters.
