I would keep it blowing into the top fan, then it will pull some air over the NB heatsink as well. But I dont think it would matter either way.

The only benefit I can think of (if you are just going to run stock speeds) is it looks cool,lol.

It will give the cpu a longer life vs stock, since it will keep it cooler. Cpu's last around 10+ years, though, so if you plan to have a new PC within 5 years, you could save yourself 26$ by returning it.

It appears to be only cosmetically damaged. I doubt it will affect performance. Those fins that are curved downward at the bottom are supposed to be like that, but the spacing is off. You could try to "slide" the fins on the heatpipes, and bend the fins with a small putty knife or something similar.

But...it shouldn't have been damaged in delivery...Functionally, it should be fine. Cosmetically, it would probably bother me that I paid full price. For $10 or $15 bucks it would be worth it. Lapped, it is a very good cooler.

the cpu never came with a stock heatsink... lol... i bought it OEM w/o the heatsink...

would overclocking it increase my encoding video time? if so, just about how much would i overclock it by to see a difference?

Wow thats looks really messed up thank god i pick mine up from the store . The mounting looks damage same with the heatsink fins.
