First laptop purchase (college)

Ok budget is $1200 or less, preferably below $1000. Main concerns are portability and battery life. At least 2gb Ram, at least 120gb hard drive can be either AMD or intel. What would you guys suggest?

From HP:
dv6700t
T-2370
3GB Ram
Webcam, Mic, Fingerprint reader
160gb HD
DVDRW
12 Cell battery
For $793

From Dell:
T5550
3gb ram
160gb hd
DVDRW
6 cell battery
$748

Any suggestions welcome, not interested in much gaming.

HP looks pretty good. I would get a 14.1in screen if your going to want it to be portable. Also, look on here for a used one. I saw a used sony taht was a good deal.

Definitely the HP due to its 12 cell battery, most companies only use a six so the 12 will be great.

You can get those specs with a vostro 1500 under dell small business. http://www.dell.com/content/products...tab=bundlestab I'd recommend sticking with the 6 cell battery that it comes with and buying a 9 cell off ebay for less.
