175.16 drivers bad? - Page 4

Buddy listen up, and i'm not even joking I had, 2 8800GTX's in SLI and im running windows vista 64-bit ultimate, funny thing is that the drivers always failed with the error, something like nvldmmkm or something. Windows vista and Nvidia in general dont match with drivers. When I had the x86 vista it did work for a bit then driver failure again. It's quite simple, they want you to upgrade to the 9000 series and vista is plain crap. Microsoft made their money and now they dont even care about making a decent operating system

I installed 175.16 yesterday and benched them. Here is a compare link between them and 169.44 however note that on my 169.44 bench I was at 3.3ghz and the 175.16 bench was done at 3.2ghz; and my GPU OC was a little higher on the 14,900 run 720/1800/1000.

http://service.futuremark.com/result...eResultType=14

If I had the same OC on both the GPU and CPU I think the new drivers might be very close or slightly higher score.

What I do also like about the new driver is the nvidia control panel has new features for global and program specific options and can filter the program list to whats installed on your computer. I made a profile for COD4, overriding any application settings for 16xAF, 4xAA, alt-frame rendering 2, single display performance mode. I played COD4 for several hours and it looked and ran great.

I really need to use the same clocks as my 14,900 run to get a good compare between the two.

Don't blame Vista and Nvidia for your problems when most users (myself included) are not having issues like this.

Not sure if i should put this here but anyhoo. I keep getting stop error BSODs on my sig rig and im pretty sure its my graphics card thats doing it but won't let me update the drivers. I tried downloading 175.16 from the nvidia website and it downloaded fine but then when i try to open it i get a message saying the file is corrupt. I've tried doing this a number of times. I'm kinda at a loss cuz i just today started getting BSODs constantly so i dunno whats going on.

Try getting them from somewhere else like guru3d. If it is still saying the file is corrupt and you are still getting BSODs constantly, me thinks it's more likely your RAM or HDD.

I'd suggest you go back down to the 169.25 drivers myself. Sounds like you're having the exact same issue I had with the new drivers. Try those ones out. It might (when installing) say something about files missing, errors, etc...just let it install and you should be fine.

Wow...I don't care what people are saying my computer was worth over $2000 dollars and I talked to microsoft for 48hours straight not only that I contacted Evga and all of them gave me suggestions but none of it worked for me. All together the problem is on their side not mine.

Let me get a few things straight...

1. How much you spend on your computer determines whether or not it will work well.

2. You sat on a phone for 48hours straight. Did you go to the bathroom and eat while on hold?

3. If no suggestions work, the problem is not your fault.
