VGA Upgrade

Hey guys,
I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card in the very near or at least thinking about it. I know that my other hardware is pretty outdated now (System is 3 Years old this year. ), but that's likely to be the next upgrade after.

The reason? I'm starting to think of my computer as an OAP, I promised myself that i'd upgrade it within 3 years (which soon looks like a broken promise if I don't do something within the next while) and later this year there is a few games i'm gonna want to play: Fallout 3, Empire: Total War, maybe Star Craft 2.

I'm looking to spend about £100, no more than £120 if I can help it on a new graphics card. Historically, i'm a NVIDIA fan though it won't be too much of a problem either way. The graphics card also needs good support under Linux as I 'dabble' from time to time in it.

Thanks guys!

The store I usually use is ebuyer, but if it'd be any cheaper or whatever, wouldn't mind using amazon. Up for other suggestions too.

Edit: If there is anything round the corner or any point in waiting, just say.

How do the 3870 and 8800GT compare? How about the 9600GT and the 8800GT? Is it worth the extra £10 for the 8800GT?

Anything coming out soon, like a 9800GT? How much will it cost? How long would I have to wait?

From the choices you've listed, the 8800GT will hands down be the winner there.

Some of the benchmarks i've seen put the 3870 ahead?
