Phenom Agena fx-82, anynews?

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering has anyone heard any news on the Phenom FX-82. I've been searching the forum and nobody has really mentioned it at all.

I've seen release dates listed here and there, older sites reported Q1 this year and newer reports state Q2 this year. I've been searching in google and there's no hoo aah about it at all.

This may mean that it's release is nothing to get excited over for some reason.
I'm wondering because I'm on this chip for my new AMD/ATI build, and I may be waiting for nothing it seems...

This wikipedia link about the phenom has the agena fx info

Really? This is weird. I just put a link to the wikipedia info page on the phenom, if you look towards the bottom you see the agena fx series, the last one is the fx-82. (link on my post above)

I did another search and it's still mentioned here and there as the phnom fx that will be released for the am2+ chipset (non 45nm), the rest of the phenom agena fx series are apparently slated for H2 2008 (probably Q1 2009) release, these will be 45nm cpus.

Sometimes this chip is mentioned as fx-8x (as if they're releasing a few of these, doubt it).

So I guess this chip is abandoned. If you reckon so, I'll probably just go ahead and buy the 9850 this weekend.

I have never ever heard of this CPU...which usually means it could have been dropped or indeed renamed. I would have thought there would be more hype about it if it was anything special.

The Phenom 8000 series is actually their Tri-core setup....and the 9000 is quad core. So the fx-80 is a tri-core version. AMD was trying the bridge design...the last core never gripped for good OC and they through those plans away...or sold them, and just called it their tri-core.

Yeah intel bought the tri-core design and made the Dual Dual core "Intel Core 2 Quad"....just 2 Core 2's bridged together.

Thats the last I have read, there was supposed to be 65nm versions, but we all know the Phenoms history and 65nm was scratched. The last news I have heard was 45nm Phenom FX, sorry I don't remmember where I seen it at...
