i was ranting to my dad about ACTA the other day, and i stumbled on an interesting situation. Now, my dad is above average on the technologically-competent scale for people his age (~45-50
), and he basically told me in as many words that he didn't understand the tech behind pirating, catching pirates, etc, and therefore he didn't care what happened.
It's our parents' generation (soon to be ours though, thank god) running our government(s), and I am willing to bet that the only thing that speaks to these politicians is the $$$
- the lobbying funds, the 'campaign donations' and the like. They don't care about digital privacy when there is money to be made off of raping and pillaging it!
Long story short:
older people in gov't -> poor tech knowledge + suckling the teat of the entertainment industry -> preferential treatment to large companies / RIAA / MPAA / IFPI -> we lose our fundamental rights to privacy, no matter how many average citizens complain
would put an end rant ("/rant") here, but this rant is far from over. i am dedicated to ranting about it
Corrupt government officials who we
put in office, only to get the shaft from
outdated business models supported by corruption
