Hey just have some simple questions

Thread Starter
I recently posted this on extremeoverclocking but I was banned before I could get any decent replies

I recently purchased this motherboard:
ECS GF7050VT-M V 1.0

With this ram:
OCZ Platinum Revision

Both are currently being shipped.

As you can see the motherboard is built to handle 667 DDR2, and I purchased 800 DDR2. (killer deal off of tigerdirect, couldn't resist)

Will this motherboard still recognize the memory and allow me to install an operating system prior to overclocking the memory to the full 800?

Also, will there be any issues concerning the volt differences?

A prompt response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

yes it will work. it will just run a 667 instead of 800
voltage should not be a problem either

I think you should be fine, Just try booting off one stick of RAM until you can get into the BIOS to up the voltage to spec. As for the 667 limitation, the RAM will run fine at that speed until you can overclock it to its stock speed. Hope this helps .

EDIT: noobdown, how dare you type faster than me. Don't make me put you on my list of nemesis's. Only joking

You should have no issues at all- you could even overclock it before you install the OS. Memory is almost always backwards-compatible (speed wise at least- don't blame me when your ddr3 won't fit into sdram slots haha)

Let us know how you get on. You may be a bit stuck with that motherboard as far as overclocking, but saying that, alot of users on here have good overclocks on budget motherboards .

I already did quite a bit of research on the motherboard, and have heard of people using/selling the E8400 with this particular board so I should be fine.
either way it was only 30.00 shipped so it definetly won't kill me to upgrade if I need the extra performance.
