All depends on what it is, how bad I need it, warranty and whether it is discounted enough. I have seen planty of newegg open box items that are only a few dollars lower than new.

I've bought 2 open box mobos from newegg before, 2 of which were dead on arrival...

One was even warped so bad that it didnt fit the back panel of my case lol, you couldn't even see the mouse and keyboards PS/2 ports...

Personally I wouldn't ever buy another open box mobo from them... graphics card maybe, ram maybe, but not something as delicate as a mobo... their employees don't seem like the gentle type

Gah HugeDink, don't tell me that

P.S. It was 160.00 + free shipping. A lot better than 220.00 + 9.00 shipping.
Already ordered haha. I think it will be fine though, and if not, eh, I'll send it back whatever. I'm not too worried about it.

Yeah...whats the worst that can happen. It sbetter than buying off eBay. If its DOA, get it replaced by newegg or even just get an RMA from the OEM. Open box is fairly non-existant in the UK unfortunately

I got my mobo open box from the egg and it works fine....no IO plate, manual or drivers but no big deal.

yeah... but if you think about it, shipping it back is usually 20+ dollars, and for that extra money, you get all the nice things that come with the motherboard, and the drivers etc, which are usually pretty hard to find online

How do you ship that it costs $20? Drivers are usually easy to get online (and usually newer anyways) I agree that it is nice to have brand new and get all the extras, but I have piles and piles of cables etc. and usually don't use an I/O plate anyways. It all depends on whether you are willing to take a gamble and willing to get a little less. I got one of the best CPU's I have ever had as an open box from them. They also have THE best customer service around. For a $80 difference, I would try open box. It is only new until you use it anyways, so if you get lucky, it won't matter in a month anyways. GL
