Motherboard for E6550

This is for a friend. We would like it to overclock to a decent frequency, or whatever is deemed a normal overclocking frequency. There is a budget of about €150 and maybe slightly above that.

Enlighten us with all of your great computer knowledge!

For this 7x cpu, need to pick higher fsb board for a decent frequency. Most P35 boards are able to OC this chip around 3G. To push above 3G, you may need to pick a board such as DFI LP P35 Dark or Gigabyte X38-DS4. Make sure budget some money for a decent cooler.

I had that exact setup. I ran mine at 3.2ghz 24/7 folding. The DS3L is a great board, as long as you don't need sli or raid.

Hey guys, thanks for recommending the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L. It seems an excellent choice, as it's far below the budget as well! Great, thanks to you all.

I use to own the DS3L and just as another rec. their a good board to start off learning how to overclock as it was for me. But i currently own the EVGA 750i board because I intend to use SLI soon, and overclock my processor more as soon as I find the right deal on a Tuniq/TRUE
