Yes I have the P35-DS3L not the R. I do not really understand how raid works can I not just connect them both on the SATA ports and have them work?

Nope you need the DS3R version to have RAID (unless you get a SATA RAID PCI card)

What are some drives that you suggest?

These (Speed depends on platter density - certain sizes are better than others)-
  • Western Digital AAKS series
  • Seagate 7200.11
  • Samsung spinpoint F1

But as I said your board is not capable of RAID without an add-in card

Damn so the DSR does have raid then? How does raid work? So I cannot just connect another harddrive and have them both work?

I bought my Mobo 25 days ago i have 5 days to return it. I am going to the store to upgrade it. What do you think I should buy?

Should I stick with Gigabyte or go with something like eVGA, Asus? What do you think is the best brand?

Definately stick with gigabyte. But the DS3R will be quite a bit more. I think you should read up on RAID a bit more before making the decision . There are increased chances of data loss, as two HDDs increases your risk of one of them failing.

Yeah I will read up on it. The DSR is 50 dollars more I remember almost getting it when I was getting the DSL. I want to try to get one with SLI also for the future if I ever want to go SLI. We'll see though I am gonna read up on raid and whatnot. Is eVGA, Asus not good?

I really don't trust ASUS much any more, others will disagree, but thats my opinion. The 680i evga board is very good and the evga 750i FTW board is also reputed to be very good. In my view I like my p35 chipset, even though it doesn't have SLI they overclock great.
