push a q6600 1.20 vid - Page 3

I hate to be the Negative Nacey but VID isnt all its cracked up to be. Although it is a great myth on OCN. Provided you have a decent VID you can hit the high speeds. Alot of it has to do with the board as well. I have a VID of 1.275 and i can easily hit 3.4 at 1.33v (1.32v on load) not a problem. Typically i run 3.0 @ 1.208v (1.19v on load). I have a P5e and microman's results reflect mine so dont think that getting the lower VID is going to seal the deal so to speak, but it will help.

yeah, but obvioulsly, even you can see the link between low VID and overlock.

Generally these lower VIDs hit say 3.0, 3.2, 3.4, etc etc at lower than average vcore.

Obviously it's not a guarentee, but more it's a general idea of how you might be able to overclock...

And clearly, you can undervolt below VID, and still have a stable cpu, but that's not always the case. I tried with my GF's e8400, not a chance, won't let me..

It all depends on the chip.

So far i owned 2 c2d one low vid e6600 and i could hit 3700 with under 1.5vcore and this quad with a 1.28 vid that i can only hit 3400 with 1.41. Then my friends 1.20 vid hits 3100s with no vcore added at all.

There is a link you are right... but i dont like to see people putting all there hopes on a VID when there are so many varibles.

understandable There are so many variables that you really can't over simplify and just say, "add more vcore" or "it's your crappy VID."

Some so called crappy VID's outperform those with lower VIDs. Like I said, every chip is different.

It just so happens that microman gets all the good ones. Lmao

I have a Q6700 with a 1.275 VID and have run it @ 3.0ghz on 1.136V and 3.33ghz 1.248...

Attachment 74182Attachment 74183

Show me one ultra low VID Quad(~1.2V) that hasn't OC'd well. I have yet to see one myself. However I have seen numerous higher VID recently minted Quads that clocked for crap. While VID isn't everything it does carry a lot of value.

Great Voltage, but Core0 has me concerned being at most 7C higher, but as you scale in Speed the lower temps come up to the higher temp and the delta decreases, but Core0 will still always be the highest temp, so I would want water for this guy.

Out of Interest what is the Batch# on this Q6600.

Well I personally do not have any Photos, but someone I know someone who just got a Q6600 with a VID=1.200v and this is what he says

'(thou it came new in the box) is the most unstable CPU I've ever dealt with. I spent whole weekend to try to figure out what settings to make it stable at 9x400... It failed me or I failed it LOL. idk. It just kept restarting when I ran Prim95. I even tried it on the Abit IP35 pro, but nothing better. It performed really well up to 3Ghz at 1.2volt and any further than that I got unstable issues... really so weid... it might not like to stay with me

So like others have said every processor is different!!!!!
