Hi

i have my XFX 9800 GX2 BlackEdition on stock speed @ 700Mhz
but i would like to know how far it can go.

Core 1 normal temp = 73°
Core 2 normal temp = 72°

I would say it wont go much further, those temps are just about the limit I would give that card.

Thats running hot if you ask me. Download Rivatuner and up your fan speeds to 100% then you can also overclock it with that program as well. All video cards are different so you wont always get the same overclock as someone else and even sometimes yourself.

on vr-zone they managed to get the black edition up to.

775MHz core, 1900MHz shader and 2350MHz memory

Its borderline. I would not push it over 80c. is 72 idle or load? If its idle then you might have gotten a bad card.



But yeah, turn up your fan speed, try to get those temps down before you overclock it anymore.

did you make your fan speed go 100%?

Listen to me I own a GX2 so i know what to do . First go into rivatuner and put the fanspeed at 100%. Next monitor your temps and see how low they go, depending on your airflow in your case your gpu temps should be in the low 50's. I would set the card to 750core, 1100memory and 1850 shader, that seems to be their sweet spot with stock cooling.
