Removing Head Amp Tone Pot..clueless!

hey all, i need some advice please.

i have a BTECH BT928 head amp which i am going to mod. the first thing i want to do is remove the tone pot, now this may sound silly but how is this done??

do i literally snip out/unsolder and remove it? surley this would break the signal path and i wont have a signal atall. or is it even possible to 'jump' the connections therefore by-passing the pot? but i'm sure i read somewhere that there is power going thru the pot so this would still be introduced into the signal....

please, anyone in the know enlighten me...

thanks in advance.

p.s. when i do this, along with the caps and resistors, in that order, i will do a worklog, step-by-step with pics.

Not sure why you want to remove it, but you may want to adjust it to where you like the sound, remove one leg (don't move the pot position) and measure the resistance. Install a resistor with that (or close to) value.

the only 'comfortable' position for listening to music is with it set at max, and still sounds a little flat in places, i have read there is a vast improvement in SQ when the pot is removed...

There might be a couple folks around here that can comment ... but it's going to be slim.

You might do some investigating over at Headfi.org.

Here's a link to the DIY (Do it yourself) section: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f6/

...

BTW: what's the specific make/brand/model of headphone amp?
