system won't boot

Thread Starter
hey guys,
i installed my duorb yesterday for my cpu to replace my coolermaster aquagate s1 and installation went smooth. im still somewhat of a newbie at installing parts (other than easy stuff like ram/gpus).

on with the problem.
i plugged everything back in, all the cords in the back, all the case leads to the mobo, and everything looks like its in the right place. BUT my system won't even load the bios screen. the system gives a short been when it boots up usually but this time it just help the beep, ironically JUST like a flatline...
any ideas on what it could be? and im open to questions to help narrow it down.
please help!

If you have placed everything back in place properly then problem might be that the CPU Cooler has not been installed correctly. Try to reseat it and make sure you apply the thermal paste correctly. Go on the AS5 homepage (Arctic Silver 5, the thermal paste that is) and check the instructions on how to apply the thermal paste correctly on the Q6600.

Did you plug in the fan for the CPU cooler?

Check to make sure nothing is shorting out, and reseat the cards/RAM/power cables. I have a feeling something may have been knocked loose. Sometimes a complete teardown and reinstall is more fruitful in the longrun than trying to pinpoint a problem like this.

Great advice.
Also many boards like mine have TWO power inputs. The main one and the 4 prong one.

I had the same problem. Just built a new system and no boot, not even a screen, a beep, nothing. The Duorb was installed but seemed like I could still move it after tightening the screws all the way down. I swapped that out for the stock Intel HSF and the pc boots up to the screen asking for system disk. Check to see if yours can be moved at all.

Does your monitor show a blue or green light?
Or is it amber colored?
If amber that means the heatsink probably isnt making contact with the gpu.
Assuming all cords are in....

Just noticed this was a 3 week old post too..... LOL

did you get it sort out?

Dont want to make this stupid, but did you plug in the yellow cab for the HDD?

My friend was having the same problem, and when i checked he just plug the power but forgot to plugin the transmit cable ( in some system this cable look yellow or green )

Everything is up and running fine. After putting in the stock Intel fan and cooler, the system booted up and installed Win XP as well. I will be sending the Duorb back to Newegg and ordering a different one. I was thinking on the Zalman 9700 but am still concerned about the weight. I have a friend who has one with no problems, but I'd rather be safe than sorry so my search shall continue.
