He won't be overclocking? In that case take the E8400 but it will be a waste of money anyway because an E8400 can get to 4Ghz

If you are willing to overclock an E2180 will be all you require.

Well Xclio is only like $50 and is a proven stable psu (and I've had one for a year with my x2 3600+)

That and if he's not doing alot of cpu intensive things then a 2180 will not be much slower than a 8400 and alot cheaper. And he can take thet $100 he saved from the cpu and upgrade the gpu and memory

but the corsair is surely greater and proven among masses, more so than an xclio. and he isnt making an uber1337 gaming rig, so 2gb ram is enough. i believe there is a significant perf boost with an e8400 over an e2180.

But if he games there is a noticeable fps a 8800 gts over a gt and in vista x64 4 gigs > 2 gigs

Well the thing is it's for a friend and he doesnt know pc very well. He just wants a pc that will work good and run maybe call of duty 4 on high...

He doesnt know much about pc. but if it were mine i'd OC the heck out of it but if i oc it for him and then maybe someday it gets a little to hot or freezzes he wouldnt know what to do...
