Will corrosion occur in this system?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I just got my liquid cooling stuff from Syrillian a couple days ago and of course I set it up quickly to test. Everything seems fine after a 24 hour leak test. Before I continue with a large order from Petras I was wondering if you guys think I need some kind of anti-corrosion in my loop. The problem is that I want my loop to be orange and orange/yellow under UV light. So I bought some Sharpie highlighters for this but I think if I use Pentosin or something then it will ugly up the color.

These are the components:

Fuzion
Laing (D5) non-vario
Swiftech MCR220
Swifttech Micro Res

I'm pretty sure it's all copper and plastic so I should be safe, but I've also read that even all copper loops can corrode after awhile
Thanks!

If you're all copper and plastic under lights then I think all you would need is some of this http://www.petrastechshop.com/pepcobi1.html
It's the algae that most people are worried about, typically in a loop that is exposed to lights.

Nope, no galvanic corrosion for you

I do suggest some PT Nuke though to keep the algae away.

Well PT Nuke is a given, I know that (even though the whole loop will be in my case, behind a UV blocking sheet of plexiglass and in the dark basement, known to my mother as "The Cave".) Still I'm looking at corrosion here.

If you don't have 2 or more dissimilar metals in your loop, you are good to go with some distilled and your choice of dye.

Or just straight distilled for max cooling.

You should be just fine. PT Nuke + Soap + dye + distilled water!

You need at least some sort of biocide at the minimum. And it's not like a couple drops of pt nuke are gonna do much to ur temps.

Yes but the issue is
1. Do I want to spend $XX.XX for a bottle of anti-corrosive and then only use 2-5 drops?
2. I don't want to change the color in the loop...I mean is there no CLEAR pentosin or something?

I said biocide. You don't need anti-corrosive. And you use a lot more than a few drops of g11. Pt-nuke isn't that much. That comes in a relatively small bottle and you use a couple drops. I would highly recommend using a biocide like pt nuke. And pt-nuke is clear.

Yep, just a few drops of pt nuke will not change the color. And there is more than enough pt nuke in that little bottle for at least 10 loops.
