I can't recall if rmvb is RealVideo or RealAudio, but I do know that VLC does not work with either.

Real Alternative

Quote:
Important Note :

- Real Alternative 1.52 works on Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/2003/XP64 with DirectX 7 or higher installed.
I think you're good.

Edit: Install the codec, and you will be able to play the video on nearly any player.

You still use RealPlayer? If you need an alternative I would go with what dskina recommended as well.

Scroll down to "Criticism".

Audio player that leaves basically 0 footprint, while remaining incredibly robust: Foobar.

Two video players (which happen to support audio), that between which can play anything they throw at it (given the codec pack coming up next): Media Player Classic and Video Lan Center. When one can't play an off format, the other almost always can.

Codec Pack that pretty much covers everything from dvds to wierd anime subtitle formats like .mkv: Combined Community Codec Pack. Note that this includes VLC and Media Player Classic as options during installation.

Audio player that is hands down, no arguing the best audio manager out there. Unfortunately it won't come out for windows for a couple months, but keep tabs on it. Amarok.

All of these are either compatible with x64 or specifically has an x64 version (minus amarok, but again we're waiting for 2.0 to come out). Better yet, media player classic is a self contained executable (just one file), and can be taken around on a flash drive to have a very compatible and portable media player.
