[Fud] 8600 PCI Card, Coming...... - Page 11

Did you know there are things called compatibility modes in XP AND Vista? I was playing Need for Speed: High Stakes on my Q6600 rig with no problems and that game was made for Windows 98.

Compatibility problems? Drop it, that's a BS arguement.

Alright, anyways in other news. Even tho i will buy one of the 3 new PCI cards, 8600, 8500, 8400 , maybe even the Diamond Stealth X1550. I notice a problem.

When using the lastest forceware driver my GPU bandwidth increases, the FX5500 is 6.8, but goes up to 12.8GB and as a result, older games has problems with FOV. Maybe someone can break the numbers down for me, but the higher the GPU bandwidth on a PCI bus can really slow down games and create FOV issues?

I think its called FOV lol, not really sure. But you know if you turn around and see everything in front of you, the game stops to drop in FPS. View distance problems, etc.
Anyway, so i have to go back to a older driver, but the higher the bandwidth, the worse it seems to be. My CPU might be the issue and not the GPU or PCI bus. Anyways, i just hope of out of the 4 cards, one of them works correctly and is stable. In the mean time, my FX550 is working fine, i just have to use a older driver.

Not really, i found out that the OS is not the problem. The problem is with the driver. When i was using windows98se, i notice i couldn't play NFS high stakes and at the time i was using a Radeon 700032MB using the lastest 6.2 beta ugly ATI Drivers. So i went back to the Diamond Stealth 4.3 drivers and the game worked just fine.

Using XP i don't have any problems playing older games, which is good. And maybe Vista doesn't have any problems too. I just have to be careful on which driver i use.

Isn't this what we have been telling you since you Crysis thread? Are you serious?

It's the PCI bus. 12.6GB of bandwidth through that is like merging from an 8 lane highway to a 2 lane road. It's your PC, jesus. It's a P3. It's PCI. It's an FX5500. What else needs to be said?

Its the CPU , P3 with 600mhz. Nothing more. The PCI bus is fine, if you have a powerful CPU, which i don't. Alright, so out of those 4 cards , despite my CPU i am still going to buy one of them. Because even tho the FX5500 Is great, it would be nice to find a card that works good on my Cpu.

Alright let me ask you this, looking at my CPU, etc and stick on the subject alright. What PCI card should i keep for this computer, the FX5500 or should i go back to the FX5200? I have one in my gaming room.

Or should i buy the X1300, because you know its not as powerful as the X1550.

Stick on the subject alright , don't tell me to buy another computer, because i already said i was ha.
