And seriously, this isn't that much more expensive than the release price of the GX2.
...
But reactions to the GX2 are mixed

Some don't like the price/performance
Some say it runs hot
Some say it stutters

Some say it runs smooth
Some love the performance no matter the cost

And don't even start "shared memory, special interconnect etc." cause it remind be of single/dual pcb bla-bla-bla and we all know how it turned out to be. And talking about 3870X2 in a real game performance is not far off 8800GTX (in some games it's better by a small margin, in some it looses), so i wouldn't say thath ATI beat 18+ month veteran.

And again don't compare performance ffs, we haven't seen a single real bench of either 4870 or GTX 280. It's obvious that u want ATI to be the top dog etc but don't give ur dreams as soon-to-come-truth-i-can-guarantee-that-and-all-ati-ftw please.
yes, we do know how it turned out to be, the 9800GX2 has stuttering issues and incompatibility issues in many games. the 3870x2 has nearly none. (I own one so please don't even try to argue your point)

Maybe we haven't seen any benches yet, but it doesn't take a lot of common sense to figure the general area these cards are going to fall in terms of performance, considering both are just beefed up versions of old architecture.

Does that sentence even make any sense? it's called proof-reading man. It helps. And it makes you look like less of a tool.

for some reason, I could tell you had an ATI card without even looking, how crazy is that, I am like a psychic or something.

No benches, no proof.

Damn, those prices are insane. Well all new GPU prices are insane. I will never spend more then $300 on a GPU. I spent like $279 on my 8800GT and that made me cringe. I think GPU technology is starting to outrun graphics. I mean no game really even stresses my 8800GT at max settings at 1680x1050 other then Crysis. Hopefully some rad new games with insane graphics will come soon to push these new cards. If not I guess there only use would be for playing Crysis at very high at some wild resolutions. At least they will be future proof.

These GPU's are priced right where they should be. Remember these are the new Enthusiast class offerings from Nvidia. What did you pay for your 8800GTX or Ultra when it was released? If your complaining it costs too much, you are obviously not the targeted consumer.

lol! and what in my post made you think I was a fanboy exactly? Before I had this card I had an 8800GS, and when my buddy bought that from me to upgrade his comp, the fastest card on the market was the 3870x2, so I got it.

When did I ever claim to have benches or proof? I'm simply speculating. I bet someone that the 4870x2 was going to be faster than the GTX280. I never said it was.

hmmm, isn't this an enthusiast forum? Are they targeting the small percentage of the small percentage that we make up? I agree, the 8800GTX and Ultra were also expensive, but how many "enthusiasts" bought those over the 320 and 640 GTS's?
