In fairness, with a web petition, someone can sign it millions of times alone, if you are being charged for a phone call, and they can compare the voice and names and so on, it's going to be a lot more realistic, with less people doing it multiple times.

How? The numbers are toll-free numbers. In addition, you don't pay for a support request when you are calling in to make a request like this. So, they don't make any money from this.

In fact, it costs them money because they
1) Pay for your call (866, 800)
2) Pay someone in India to take your call for which you pay nothing.

This is the opposite of profit making; it's taking a loss to better understand your customers' wants.

Hahahaha, this really reminds me of the current US elections.

MS = Democrats, fighting over two potential nominees, one older that has the experience (Clinton and XP), and one newer "hip" one that seems to want lots of change for the nation (Obama and Vista).

Apple = Republicans, has one solid nominee that all republicans can agree on, <opinion> but eventually will fail in the end (OS X and McCain). </opinion>

Anyone else see the similarities?

wowsurprise. Another "VISTA PWNS, XP TOTALLY SUXXORS" thread.

To all of you out there with Vista: We understand that by clinging on to an older version of Windows, we slow the progress rate for your operating system. This is not news.

To all of you out there with XP: At some point or another, Microsoft is going to drop XP. It's bound to happen. Get over it already. Enough with the endless string of petitions and calls and everything.

I've tried Vista and I don't like it. I prefer XP simply because i'm totally used to it, and my computer runs faster on XP. Framerates in Crysis shot up almost 30% from Vista to XP on fresh installs.

well, at least thats how i remember it
xp will die, and when it does, most of us would have moved onto vista anyway. let MS discontinue XP.

meh i was heavy into gaming when vista was launched, the only feature that was worth while to upgrade to was dx10, and still many gamers have not done it as the graphical beauty isnt worth the resource hoggage. what they should do is come out with a windows vista xp edition, same features of xp, just dx10 enabled, then if u wanna get all the vista junk pay the premium for upgrade, but hey im just 1 person with no cents

Well... Vista performs at it worst on a fresh install. You need to give it a month or two And I am not sure how long ago yuo tried, but SP1 makes quite a difference, and probably at the time you tried, Vista drivers might have been immature.

true indeed

All the same though, I do believe that the operating system was indeed released prematurely. These issues should have been worked out in v1.
