I'd either get SLI 8800GT G92s, or a Single 9800GTX for now. The new cards are quite pricey, though. As for Quad Core being the future, it may be, but by the time the future is here, the Q6600 will suck compared to that generation of "budget" Quad Cores. Heck, the Q6600 is bottom of the barrel for quads right now anyway.

Price doesn't always = performance. Look at the 9800GX2.

If you are not in a hurry you can wait for the GTX 260/280 . They are just about 3 weeks away. Once we have real benchmarks you can decide to go for it .. or stick with the 9800GTX's

intel quad q9450 tray-go with a 6700 dramaticaly cheaper and will have near same performance i dont remember source but i hear its about a 4-5% difference in power.
zerotherm nirvana nv120-from my experience the two coolers to go with are the Tuniq tower for $50 and the TRUE if you want to spend a little more.
msi p7n2 diamond 790i ultra sli-i would go with the evga 780i you dont need the ddr3 far to expensive for performance increase at this time period.
2x xfx 9800gtx black edition in sli-put 2 evga 8800 gts 512's in sli save 200 bucks and get almost exact same performance.
2x seagate 500mb - 32mb cache-looks good
2048MB DDR3 OCZ PC12800 Platinum Edition CL7- go with either the g.skill 2x2gb ddr2 1066 or the dominator ddr2 2x2 1066 both are good choices.
NZXT Lexa Blackline Blue-i would go with a better known and larger case for such a nice build check out the antec 1200, a lian li, and the armor+ all great cases.
LG GDR - H20N-your call on the opti drive just make sure it has something called lightscribe and your good.
TAGAN TG800-U33 2-Force II, 800W-i would go with a better known psu the corsair 750 is only 100 bucks on buy.com and provides a effective 9??W is quiet and has a 5 year warranty and good customer service.
Logitech MX518 Gaming-Grade Optical Mouse-mouse is your call but i like razers over logitech i have a lachesis but thats kinda for people who use clawgrip and extreme dpi setting u might want to check out the razer deathadder and the lachesis. in addition look into a metal double sided mousepad if you dont have one any brand works their are all very similar but cloth pads suck IMO.
Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard-good keyboard

and those are my opinions on the matter i subbed for any questions on my choices.

Yep. much quieter. Take it from someone who has 2 raptors in his pc... they are FREAKING LOUD. I almost got rid of them because they nearly drove me crazy untill i got used to the constant sound... but dang are they fast Actually they really are loud only when when you first turn on the pc, or access lots of data obviously, so not all the time thank God. The noise really is frustrating and a turn off, so I can understand why someone would want another drive for this reason alone.

It's the slowest Quad Intel makes. If you are saying get a quad to be future-proof, you're shooting yourself in the foot. Think about it, the Q6600 is already what, almost 2 years old? It's the slowest, "worst" (relatively speaking) quad that Intel has produced, save for maybe some Xeons that are server-only. Assuming it will take only 1 year for quad cores to be utilized (and it will most likely be longer) you will then be running the slowest Quad Core that Intel released 3 years ago. And in the mean time, you'll be running dual-core optimized apps at slower speeds than a comparatively-priced E8400.
