Overclock rollback?

Thread Starter
few months back i overclocked my Q6600 from 2.4Ghz stock to 3.8Ghz. everything was fine until last week i decided to upgrade my OS from XP to Vista//Linux dual boot. After a successful installation (in windows) i right-clicked computer -> properties and now it's back to 2.4Ghz

Since i OC'd a few months back i dont remember my clocks and it seems that my RAM is still OC'd and its causing my system to crash.
halp

thanks in advance!

I think it shows that speed in Vista, but can't remember atm. Have you used CPU-Z to check the actual speed? I think that ram may be going bad. Check for errors in memtest86.

Try running cpu-z for the real speed.
Back down the memory overclock so that the RAM is running below speed.
If all else fails perform a CMOS reset and start over again. Make sure you write down your stable settings on a piece of paper in case something like this happens.

i think vista just reads the name as the proc. Get CPU-Z like coffee said.

Check that speed step setting in the BIOS just incase. Its the setting that downclocks your CPU to save power.

speedstep is disabled, his cpu-z screenie shows the multi at 9x. Try a CMOS reset and start again I'm afraid.
