Few questions

Thread Starter
First, what is a good defragment program I can use on my harddrives besides the default Windows XP one?

Second, when I boot up my PC it asks for a start up disk--I had installed XP on a SATA drive and left my old IDE drive plugged in so I could format it later but it had a prior copy of XP. What can I do about this to get rid of the start up disk prompt?

Regarding the startup issue; can't you simply set the boot device priority in the correct order in the BIOS? Set your new SATA drive as the first boot device. That should get it to boot from the drive with the new windows installation without problems.

As for the defragger..there are many recent threads on the same topic..you may find more info in those. But IMO, pick one that is automatic, so you don't have to bother about defragging in the future. No need to spend time on setting defrag schedules etc, when the software itself can intelligently manage the whole defrag process for you.
