the 9600GT runs a LOT cooler than the 8800GT also. this might or might not be an issue with you. Thing about the 8800GT is if you buy one, it's best if you get an aftermarket cooler (or I guess that Asus works). My MSI 9600GT never goes over 60C under full load running the Witcher on full settings with 8x AntiAliasing, and still gets about 35FPS outside running around (personally tested using fraps, not quoting any site).

seeing that Asus 8800GT makes me kinda wish i got the 8800GT with the glacier cooler or whatever, cause it was only $10 more.

EDIT: Also when you overclock the 9600GT it performs the same as the 8800GT 512.

This is one of several comparisons with 9600GT in SLI and 8800GT in SLI. There are no benches here that have the 9600GT in SLI ahead of the 8800GT SLI.

Perhaps one of the above posters could define scaling and its benefits. The 8800GT's singly or SLI overclock extremely well and are not much more expensive than the 9600GT.
