bought it off of newegg, where it had hundreds of good reviews and like three bad ones. go figure.

i fixed it, anyways - i switched to a different outlet in a newer part of the house, and now it is fine. likely a poor ground on that outlet.

I searched for "Enlighten". No wonder I didn't get any hits, it's called "Enlight". Turns out it's a Delta. Could be good, could be bad. I don't know since I can't find any reviews.

I kinda figured it was something like that. Old wiring is notorious for poor or non-existent grounding.

Something vaguely similar happened to me, my UPS would electrify my whole case and every metallic peripheral, the side panels, my Camera, Flash stick etc, you'd get a nice little shock from every part of it... at first it happened to my old Compaq P2 (sheep dip), I put it off as juts something wrong with the grounding, then later on when I used the UPS with my P4, the same thing again... It turns out that the 3 pin power cable had the grounding hotwired inside...
