Worth getting?

My 6800GS is on its last legs, its lagging like hell in games, artifacting everywhere (Not overheating, didn't go a step over 73c during a game of Sins of a Solar Empire with about 20k ships on the screen right in front of it, and its been way higher than that.), and little yellow lines, etc are appearing around webpages, I found a good deal on a 6600GT 128Mb, I want to know, how fast are they, when overclocked, compared to a 6800GS @ stock speeds?

I play some Oblivion, Sins of a Solar Empire, WoW, Trackmania, Need For Speed Pro Street, and UT3, and I game at either 1440x900 or 1280x9x0 (forget that last number...), I think performance won't miss on much, since when my card wasn't just about dying on me and losing speed, it got 12k in 3Dmark03, and according to the owner of this card, it gets 8000 (Stock speeds), although that doesn't tell me game performance..

The other reason that is a good reason to get this, is I have been saving up for a new motherboard, and this motherboard is showing the signs of dying that a previous one did (Hard Drive errors, stuff like that.) so Mums going to buy me a DS3R, but I need a PCIe Graphics Card, and this 6600GT I'm looking at is PCIe.

I'd go for something a bit better than a 6600 especialy for playing games like conan etc, how much you willing to spend on a graphics card?

But if the 6600 is your limit i'd go for a 256mb one ;l

If your looking for a mid range PCI-E card then get the 9600GT,Its cheap and its pretty good card.If you have extra cash then get a 8800GT which is better than the 9600GT.

I only have about AU$30, and a guy offered to sell me his 6600GT 128Mb for $30, so....

But my 6800GS lags like crap in everything I run, except WoW, and everything except WoW is running on lowest, so I think I've lost performance somewhere....

I think your card is dying...
I would strongly recommend at least getting a 7900 series card. The 6x00 series is already 3, almost 4 generations old. the 7x00 is only 2 old. How much do these cost around AU? I would search for one, and just deal with your 6800 for a little longer...

Waiting any longer isn't going to let me have more money, I haven't got a job or anything, and I only get what my mum has spare, but how is the performance of a 6600GT 128Mb compared to a 6800GS 512Mb?

Edit: Well I called mum, and she can give me $20 extra, so that should let me be able to get a new 6800GS off eBay.

Edit 2: I got a Gigabyte 6800GS 256Mb, Thanks for the help.

lol, just get a 9600GT from PALIT with 1GB memory, i get phenominal frame rates on most games at 1280x1024 resolution with all settings always maxed out, games are smooth with high frame rates in close to the 100s in FPS or above 100 FPS, crysis on high settings at 1024x768 plays with around 35-40FPS smoothly and i did the ultra high mod where you modify the numbers inside the CVAR files to make the very high settings when you have the game on high settings in XP which onlys allows high settings, the game will actually play on very high settings and it looks amazing and smooth, then SLI with another 9600GT, you'll be good to go with really high frame rates, besides, two 9600GTs SLI will abuse in most cases a 9800GTX

get the one with 512MB ram, it will be worth every penny, that extra ram will be needed for games if you want to use high settings and future games will use 512MB a lot more than games do now so its worth investing into that, 128MB will be obsolete in a year or so and most games will move away to high RAM
