TO much air cooling ??? - Page 4

why not? cost effective, easy to make, very strong, silent and can revolutionize mobile units... like laptop cooling
post #32 of 75
don't yet know how cost effective it will be yet.

also it's different and a lot of people don't like that it seems. plus marketing, and production can cause problems as well.

It's not totally about how many fans you have or how powerful you have. More important is how you make the air move inside the case. According to some tests I've done, there really is no "standard answer" as far as there being the only right way to do things.

For example, conventional wisdom says that if you have fans mounted at the very top of you case, these should always be set to exhaust. Well, my gaming rig's top-mounted fans have been set to intake simply because my tests showed that, with the hardware I have installed, this configuration results in far better temperatures than setting these to exhaust. The top-mounted fans used to be set to exhaust, but when I decided to flip these fans, CPU temps at max load (Orthos Small FFTs) dropped by almost six degrees. Clearly, when these fans were set to exhaust air, they were stealing air from the heatsink fan, resulting in elevated temperatures. Reversing the airflow from exhaust to intake, against conventional wisdom, gave the CPU heatsink fan more air to work with, resulting in much-improved thermal performance.

Don't be afraid (or lazy) to test every possible fan configuration. Sometimes, going against the grain yields spectacularly successful results.

Good luck!

I have 3:
Chassis Front
Chassis Rear
CPU (HUGE heatsink)

There's a place to install a fourth on the side, but the heat sink is too big, and they cannot occupy the same space at the same time. I plan on placing a large box fan next to the open case (that's like, 20" :O )

I have 2 fans blowing air in all different directions

But these are 250mm fans on the side panel, with holes all over the case in the right places. I feel cool air flowing out the holes almost like my air conditioner in my house. With these two fans (in addition to cpu, gpu, and psu) and an 80mm on the back, they are all I have to cool my rig. My temps are in direct comparison to others who have 8 fans. I love it
