Hi all. I am currently planning a new pc build for the summer and would like some input. Last pc I built was 2.5 years ago so I am a little out of touch with the newest things (current pc - AMD X2 and 7800gtx both on water). Here is a list of what I am currently planning on getting.

CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115042

Mobo - Asus P5N-T Deluxe
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131247

Ram - Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4GB(2x2GB)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148180

HDD 1 - WD Raptor 150GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136012

HDD 2 - WD 640GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136218

Sound Card - Creative X-Fi Titanium Fatality Pro
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102019

DVD/CD - Lite-On 20x Sata
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106057

PS - Thermaltake Toughpower 850w
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153062

Video Card - 2(two) EVGA 9800gtx KO
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130348

CPU Cooler - OCZ VEND2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835202007

I know Nvidia is coming out with the new 9900/280? line in mid June and am willing to wait till then and hope that they perform as well as we all hope.

Thanks for all your input everyone.

EDIT:

Mobo now EVGA 780i

Looks like a solid build but i would change a few things listed below:

Motherboard-Change that Asus 780i into a Evga 780i, Asus are known to make crap Nvidia chipset boards and Evga are the best for 780i, just look at anyone with and 780i board and 99% of them will have a Evga 780i

RAM- The Ballistix are good but the current ones seem to die very fast and don't overclock well i would just get a G.Skill 2x2Gb set.

HDD- The Raptor is a waste of money imo especially with the Seagate 7200.11 drives out get two of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148288 and put them in RAID0 you will get better performance and more storage.

PSU- is a good choice but if you have any extra money try and get the DA850 which is higher quality and modular

Video Card- If you were to buy right now i would not get the 9800GTX since the increase in performance is not wroth it at all. Just get two 8800GTS G92's in Sli and they will offer around the same performance. but since you aren't i would get the GTX280. If you do though that would mean that you cannot go Sli unless you decide to spend $1300 on video cards.

Good choice on the CPU cooler but by that time i think Cooler master would have released thier new CPU cooler we'll see what they can offer.

Thats all i will say except for this: Are you going to put this in a case? cause i dont see any

Do not get an Asus motherboard, they are terrible with NVIDIA chipsets as they don't use a reference mobo. It will have FSB holes and FSB walls.

Get this motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=evga%2b780i

The eVGA board is a reference board from NVIDIA.

kazakia and Marin thanks for the help on the Mobo.. my past two builds have been with Asus and have had great success with them.

Ram wise is there any specific G.Skill set that you would recommend?

PSU i'll look into the Silverstone.

Video Card selection is always the biggest pain for me and probably for most people.. i'll decide on that after nvidia comes out with the new line.

Case - currently looking at Antec 900 and 1200 / Lian-Li's are beautiful but pricey for just a peice of metal to me / CM Stacker maybe

Forgot the HDD. I currently use a raptor in my rig and love it to death. Do you have any reference to the Seagates performance?

CPU - waste of money, Q6600 GO ftw, or wait for Q9650 (not QX9650) which should be about $530
GPU - wait for GTX280/260
MOBO - change to EVGA 780i A1/750i FTW
PSU - Silverstone DA850 would be better and its modular.
AUDIO -

everything else seems fine. and you can get lian-li's for $100, even the cheap ones are class compared to everything else.

If you insist on getting a 10000 RPM drive, then I'd get one of the new Velociraptors, 300GB for $300.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136260

Also, this is the G.Skill that I'd recommend.
